Botanical name: Ardisia oxyphylla Family: Primulaceae (Primrose family)
Pointed-Leaf Coralberry is a treelet that grows in lowland and hill forests
in Northeast India, Malaysia, Burma, Thailand, and Borneo. The bark is
grayish-brown. The leaves are simple and exstipulate. The leaf-stalk is
channeled and 2 cm long, 2 mm thick. The blade is elliptic-oblong, 2 cm
long, 5.5 mm broad, villous, and the margin is cilate–pectinate. The tip
of the blade is long-pointed The inflorescences are panicles at the end of
branches, which are up to 8 cm long. The flowers are magenta with a densely
tomentose ovary. The fruits are dull red, round, 5×2 mm.
